Wait, what’s that? There are different types?
If you say “psychic” to a member of the general public, they’ll might think you’re talking about some sort of fakery or illusion.
If you have a degree of spiritual savvy, you know there’s definitely something going on. Maybe had a reading that was uncannily accurate, or had a brush with the paranormal.
But is there more than just “telling someone’s future?”
With a growing interest in things spiritual and metaphysical, some of those gen pop folks are shifting their awareness. There’s greater interest in what it means to be psychic.
Long gone are the old days of dialing up a psychic by phone. Today, you find them all over social media – your truly included! So many types. Some offer readings, some offer items, all of them offering insights into your personal life.
Is it any wonder so many are skeptical? How do they even do that? Let’s start with defining the word:
“sensitive to nonphysical or supernatural forces and influences: marked by extraordinary or mysterious sensitivity, perception, or understanding”
That’s a whole of words, but they all convey a message that being psychic involves interacting with something intangible, numinous even. The most important word though…
Psychics are sensitive to nonphysical things – beings, energies, etc. Hence the term:
But where does psychic ability come from? Excellent question. No one really knows, although plenty have theories. No matter the theory, most agree every human possesses a degree of psychic sensitivity – whether they think they do or not.
Don’t believe me? Consider…
Most have experienced the sensation of “just knowing” someone is staring at you. Only to turn and – lock eyes with a person staring at you. Or “just knowing” you were going to get a call from a certain person, right before your phone rings.
Common. Yes. “Just a coincidence.” Meh…not so much.
Way back in the day, one of the truest lessons I ever learned happened when I was just starting my animal training career. “Always trust your gut” my boss told me, “otherwise you’ll get bit.”
She was right. That “gut feeling” is our innate psychic sensitivity kicking and letting us know there’s something we need to pay attention to.
Personally – using my psychic abilities feels like mental exercise. The more I practice the easier and more flow-y it feels. It’s very much analogous to training, the more you dedicate to it, the better you’ll get.
There are even studies that indicate there’s more going on than meets the eye.
Not all psychics are alike, however. While all have heightened sensitivity to non-physical, non-local energies, how they tap into and interact with those energies can vary greatly.
The clairs are a group of psychic abilities relating to sensory perception – seeing, hearing, feeling. “Clair” = “clear” so the clairs are “clear sensing.” Most psychics have one or more of the clairs.
Communicating with other beings, entities, or even a person’s Higher Self. Each channeling varies in intensity, and each channeler has their own methodology. Each one however shares two basic traits.
Channelers often connect to:
Speaking prophecies or making predictions. These psychics read via tools such as tarot cards, tea leaves, crystals or palmistry. Divination is a powerful modality and requires both the ability and practice to develop fully.
Have you had a psychic experience? Do any of the types of psychic abilities here resonate or seem familiar to you? Are there any you’d like to learn more about?
